Hail Purdue!

I am happy to announce that I will be joining the faculty of the EAPS Department at Purdue University as an assistant professor in August 2019.

Atlantic Article

"The Nastiest Feud in Science" by Bianca Bosker is out in the Atlantic. Bianca joined us in India for fieldwork on the Deccan Traps last winter, and includes this trip in her profile of Prof. Gerta Keller.

Siletzia Press

Here is a press release from GSA regarding my work on the Siletzia oceanic plateau. The article in which I published this research can be found here.

GSA 2017

I will be leading a field trip to the Paleogene sedimentary and volcanic rocks exposed in central Washington with Bob Miller and Paul Umhoefer following the annual meeting of GSA in Seattle. We will highlight the distinctive history of sediment accumulation, deformation, and volcanism that these rocks record and link it to events along the North American margin, including the accretion of Siletzia and the migration of the Kula-Farallon-North American triple-junction. The trip is 3 days and costs $350. If you are interested then you can find out more information here.

I will also be heading session T232: Subduction Zone Response to Ridge and Plateau Collision: Perspectives from the Archean to the Cenozoic with Paul Umhoefer. We are particularly interested in research that highlights the well-studied effects of spreading ridge and aseismic ridge subduction and oceanic plateau accretion from the Mesozoic and Cenozoic, as well as research that documents these effects in rocks through deep time. If you are interested, abstracts can be submitted here. The deadline is August 1, 2017. I’ll see you in Seattle!

AGU 2016

I will be presenting research on magma evolution within the Golden Horn batholith in session V41E: Volumes, timescales, and frequency of magmatic processes in plutons, chambers, and reservoirs in the Earth’s crust I on Dec. 15 at 8:00.

GSA 2016

I will be presenting new geochronologic data from the northern part of the Eocene Siletzia large igneous province in session T154: Recent advances in understanding magmatism along and within the northern North American Cordillera on Sept. 25 at 4:45.

Successful Defense!

I successfully defended my dissertation on September 1, 2016 and will start as a postdoctoral research scientist at Princeton University on October 1.

Zentner Lecture

Professor Nick Zentner (CWU) recently gave a public lecture in Wenatchee that described some of our group's recent work in the Swauk and Chumstick basins. A video of the lecture can be found here.

AGU 2015

I will be presenting my research on magma emplacement rates in the Golden Horn batholith in session V34B: Quantifying storage, transport, and volumes of magmas in the Earth’s Crust II on Dec. 16 at 4:45.

GSA 2015

I will be presenting research on the timing and nature of magmatism in the ocean-continent transition zone along the Iberia and Newfoundland conjugate margins on Nov. 4 at 4:45 in session T214: Mountains across the oceans: Caledonian, Variscan, and Appalachian orogenies through time.
